New project alert: Movie about Infamous Rolex Gang
Following the international streaming success of iHostage, we’re excited to announce our first theatrical feature film: a gripping crime drama inspired by the notorious "Rolex Gang." This powerful story follows the rise and fall of a group of young men who dominated Dutch headlines for years with their brutal, highly targeted robberies of luxury watches.
The film draws inspiration from real events involving four gang members who were convicted in 2020, after terrorizing affluent and often well-known individuals in Amsterdam. Their high-profile heists didn’t just leave victims in their wake—they also triggered a lasting shift in how people present themselves in public.
“In an era where success and status are flaunted daily on social media, an expensive watch has become more than just a symbol of wealth—it’s also a potential threat,”
— says Ali Fardi, creative producer on the project, known to Dutch audiences for his roles in Marokkaanse Bruiloft and GTST.
Our goal is to tell a dramatized version of these events without directly using or referencing the personal stories of real victims or perpetrators. As producer Boudewijn Rosenmuller explains:
“This will be a thrilling, dramatic, and emotionally charged film—a coming-of-age crime drama that resonates deeply. We’re committed to telling this story with integrity and responsibility, mindful of its social impact and the real people who were affected.”
The screenplay is written by Daan Windhorst (De Kuthoer, Bovensloters), and the film is being co-produced by Horizon Film (iHostage) and Jabadoo Pictures (Wraak, Dubbel Zes), in collaboration with Interstellar Pictures. The director will be announced at a later date. Filming is slated to begin in 2026, with Dutch FilmWorks handling theatrical distribution in the Netherlands.
Stay tuned for more updates as the project moves forward.
